Welcome to Gage R&R, also known as Measurement Systems Analysis. In this module, we will provide a practical overview of Gage R&R concepts including graphical and statistical analysis using Minitab. In this lesson, you will be able to:

Understand the importance of Measurement Error and purpose of a Gage RR

Understand the basic structure of a Gage RR

Identify elements of a measurement system

Identify common problems with measurements

Interpret graphical and statistical Gage R&R output from Minitab

Observe, practice and perform a sample Gage R&R using Minitab 15

So first of all, where is GRR located on the DMAIIC Road Map?
The GRR Tool resides in the MEASURE PHASE. In MEASURE, we collect data about the current state of the problem we are trying to solve.

This means we must:

Measure both the “x”s and the “Y”s of our process.

In practical terms, this means we are “converting the problem into data.”

Once we have data to work with, we can then use statistical tools to lead us in the right direction toward solving the problem at hand.
